EIFS Installation
Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) is a cladding method that is designed to insulate and protect buildings while minimizing energy costs. It utilizes a specific layering method that starts inside your building and then extends to the outside wall. The EIFS process will insulate your building while preventing the build-up of moisture within the building.

Tampa Stucco and EIFS Repair Services is the industry leader in the installation, repair, replacement, and treatment of EIFS systems. The company has continued to perfect its EIFS processes through several years of experience in the industry. It is one of the best ways of adding a unified layer to the traditional wall system.
EIFS installation is not a hard process as long as you leave it in the hands of professionals. Before beginning the work, these experts have to make sure that the scaffolding and all components are ready and also prepare the surfaces for EIFS application. You can install EIFS over stucco, concrete, plaster, masonry, oriented strand board (OSB), plywood, wood-based sheathing, and glass-mat gypsum sheathing. The most important thing during EIFS installation is making sure that moisture does not accumulate in your systems. You need to apply a waterproof air barrier during EIFS installation. It is also good to replace any damaged sheathing.
For attachments, contractors use special adhesives to fasten all the EIFS elements in the structure. Don’t use metallic fasteners because their conductivity compromises the energy conservation process. You also have to back-wrap your EIFS with a reinforcing mesh. The experts use an adhesive to attach the reinforcing mesh to the substrate. Make sure you prepare the EPS or insulation board before EIFS installation. The least effective board thickness is ¾ inch but most codes allow you to go up to 4 inches. Try to eliminate any thermal breaks and gaps between the board as you apply.
Use a notched towel to apply the adhesive to the EPS. The lines of adhesives or ribbons have to run parallel to the longboard dimension. The other important thing is knowing how to install the board. There should be no spaces between the board because they can create breaks. Check for any spaces or breaks after the EIFS installation. Feel any gaps even those that have the width of a credit card with an insulating material.

Use sandpaper to rasp the whole insulation board surface and not just the joints so that they are smooth and level. The next step that is critical is the application of coat and mesh. Apply the prescribed base coat to block sunlight from affecting the board insulation surface. The market has several approved base coat products that you can use. Embed the mesh till it gets to the point where it is not visible through the base coat. If the mesh shows through, you will need a base coat to cover it completely. Give the base coat enough time to dry and use a primer to complete the protection.
Use a continuous application to apply the finish coat over the base coat. You can either use the spraying or coating textures on the outer surface using different application methods and products. Tampa Stucco and EIFS Repair Services offer different types of textures depending on your unique needs. The last protective stage is applying a sealant on all joints where the EPS boards meet other surfaces such as the meter box or door frame. The sealant will act as a shock absorber between these two surfaces and stretches as the surface keeps on moving.
