The most common materials that are used to build the exterior of a building are EIFS and stucco. The two surfaces serve the same process even though contractors use different materials to set them up. You can apply both of them to your commercial or residential property. Most people who own residential properties use stucco. It is a hard coat product that is used on the exterior of the house because it is durable and has the ability to provide extra protection to your house.

However, you can still use a similar material that is called EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems). It is a soft synthetic siding material that does not provide a high level of protection like stucco. Some people even don’t know whether they have EIFS or stucco on their exterior walls. There are a few things that differentiate these two applications. You can choose any of them depending on your goals and budget.

The first thing that differentiates these two techniques is the installation process. EIFs and stucco installations are carried out in two different ways. While installing stucco, contractors start by putting a wire mesh in the right position so as to uphold the rock material. Once the wire mesh is in place, the contractor will apply the stucco over the place. the role of the wire mesh is to assist with the moisture that keeps on moving behind the rock. On the contrary, EIFS utilizes a baseboard that the contractors install in the right location. In most cases, the boards are constructed from Styrofoam. Once the board is in place, the contractor will apply a base coat. The last thing is to apply a finishing coat and the stucco will be ready. These two techniques are procedural and hence it is good to leave them in the hands of professionals.

The next differentiating factor of EIFS and stucco are their breathable properties. Both EIFS and stucco may appear to be similar at first glance. However, while one is an actual rock layer and the other one is synthetic, there is a way in which you can identify their differences.  EIFS has a synthetic design that will not allow even a small amount of water to pass through them whether in vapor or liquid form. The reason is that this clagging material has a natural solid that is highly waterproof. On the other hand, stucco is a naturally porous siding material. Therefore, it allows a certain amount of moisture to move in to or out of the wall. What we are saying here is that it allows the stone to breathe. This process is helpful in some climates because the fluctuation may prevent cracking.
